Chapter Six- Brandon
Brandon sat at his desk at the station in deep thought. The last 24 hours was one of the craziest days of his life. He remembered Mercedes calling him frantic because she shot and killed some petty thug in her living room. He personally thought she was doing the department a favor by killing him.
When he got to her, she was a mess and could barely speak. He tried to calm her down and make sure that the other officers did not traumatize her too much. They wanted to bring her in for questioning, but he assured them that she was a good girl and wasn't capable of committing cold-blooded murder. The officers that responded to the call took his word of self-defense and left it alone, but told her that she would have to come in later to answer a few necessary questions. She was a mess and crying heavily when everyone left. He promised her that he would come in to check on her.
On top of that, he was still steadily working towards capturing Keeno. He had a few informants on the streets that told him that he was going to be in New York to handle business. Determined, he did not plan on letting Keeno get back on that plane. He tried to find out if Trina was with him, but if she was no one knew about it. He texted his confidential informant on his cell phone.
Brandon: Where is he now?
He waited for a response and saw his partner come in through the door. “Yo Dixon!” he called over to him. His partner walked over towards him and sat down on the top of his desk. “What’s good bruh?” he asked.
“You playa,” Brandon joked. “Where the hell you been? Ain’t nobody seen you in the last couple of days.”
Dixon laughed at his partners joke. “Man, I met this girl, she bad bruh. Like she the type of chick you could take home to moms,” he said.
Brandon sat back full of surprise. “What? Let me find out that the Playboy himself is trying to settle down,” he laughed. “This chick must be special,” he said. “Where you meet her at?”
“Well actually,” Dixon said. “I was handling a case at her office. Remember that firm downtown where the dude committed suicide a couple of weeks ago?” he asked.
Brandon thought back to that call. He was supposed to have responded to that call but was held up on another case. “Oh yeah, I do remember that,” he said. “But what’s she got to do with it?” he asked.
“Bruh her best friend was the one that killed himself,” he said. “She was messed up real bad, so I gave her a ride home. I ain’t think nothing was going to come out of it, but it did. At first she acted like she didn't want to talk to a nigga, but she agreed to go to dinner with me tonight,” Dixon smiled.
“Shit,” Brandon smirked. “Looks like somebody bout to be off the market,” he teased.
